Katch Up on Why Viral Social Media Trends Are Taking Over Saudi Arabia in 2026

Viral TikTok trends, Saudi café culture, creator-led commerce, and the ever-present conversations on X are drastically altering the Kingdom’s social media landscape, creating huge opportunities for brands that know how to spot the right moment

The world is more online than ever before. The digital revolution has been continuous for many years, and now we are at a point where technology is doing things that we could have only dreamed of a decade ago. Social media is part of most people’s routines, with scrolling Instagram, TikTok, and X now commonly seen as an essential part of the day.

That is why Saudi Arabia is just another country that runs on social media. With almost 99% of the population connected to the internet and 38.6 million active social media user identities recorded at the end of 2025, the Kingdom is one of the world’s most digitally engaged markets.

But social media in KSA is about far more than simply having a presence on the right platforms. Trends can emerge, peak, and disappear within days, while the content that resonates most strongly is increasingly rooted in local culture, personalities, places, and everyday life. For brands, keeping up means understanding what makes people tick and why they are engaging with it in the first place.

Saudi Arabia’s Social Media Boom

The scale of social media adoption in Saudi Arabia is difficult to overstate. The latest Saudi Internet Report found that Snapchat is used by 83.6% of internet users, TikTok by 77%, YouTube by 75.8%, Instagram by 40.8%, and X by 34.9%. These figures highlight just how deeply social platforms are woven into everyday life, with different channels serving different purposes.

The rise has also changed the relationship between consumers and brands. Social media is increasingly becoming where people discover restaurants, find travel inspiration, follow sporting events, discover new businesses, watch reviews, debate the latest news, and buy products. For brands, this creates an enormous opportunity, but also means audiences have become much more discerning about what deserves their attention.

There Is No One-Size-Fits-All Platform

Each platform has its own role in Saudi Arabia. Snapchat remains particularly powerful for daily communication, Stories, local creators, and immersive campaigns, with its advertising reach equivalent to almost 73% of the Kingdom’s total population at the end of 2025. TikTok is the engine of short-form video and fast-moving trends, while Instagram remains particularly effective for lifestyle, fashion, beauty, F&B, retail, and visual storytelling. X continues to dominate real-time conversations around news, sport, government, and public affairs, while YouTube remains an important destination for longer-form video and entertainment. Any social media agency in Saudi Arabia worth its salt should know that the best platform is not necessarily the one with the biggest audience, but the one where a particular brand’s audience is most receptive.

Café Culture Has Become Content Culture

Walk through Riyadh or Jeddah and you will find no shortage of beautifully designed cafés, distinctive interiors, specialist coffee, and photogenic food. Unsurprisingly, café culture has become a major source of social content. Creators are documenting hidden gems, reviewing new openings, showcasing interiors, and creating aesthetic day-in-the-life videos that make viewers want to experience the locations for themselves.

The same applies to domestic tourism. AlUla, Abha, the Red Sea, and other destinations across the Kingdom are increasingly appearing in short-form travel content, giving audiences ideas for their next weekend away. For brands, the opportunity is to become part of these conversations organically. A restaurant therefore needs to give people a reason to save the video, share it with a friend, or add the venue to their list of places to visit.

Local Creators Are Becoming Shopkeepers

Another major shift is the way creators are turning their platforms into businesses. Instagram and TikTok are now functioning as digital storefronts for homegrown brands selling everything from perfumes and cosmetics to fashion and artisanal products. The creator can often be the founder, salesperson, storyteller, and customer-service team all at once.

This is where creator-led commerce becomes particularly powerful. Consumers can discover a product in a video, watch the creator explain why they use it, see comments from other customers, and purchase it within minutes. Brands need to think carefully about the creators they partner with. A smaller creator with genuine influence over a highly relevant community can often be far more valuable than a celebrity whose audience has little connection to the product.

Authenticity Is Still Winning

Perhaps the most important trend of all is one that isn’t going anywhere, that people want content that feels real. Behind-the-scenes videos, founder stories, gym journeys, restaurant kitchens, product development, daily routines, and unpolished moments can often generate stronger engagement than highly produced advertising.

Fitness and wellness content is a good example. As the weather begins to become more pleasant, content around outdoor running, gym routines, self-care, and healthy lifestyles is naturally finding an audience. Brands don’t necessarily need to manufacture a trend around themselves; they need to understand the conversations already happening and find an authentic place within them.

Don’t Chase Every Trend

The biggest mistake a brand can make is confusing being fast with being relevant. By the time a trend has been spotted, approved, scripted, filmed, edited, and signed off, it may already be yesterday’s news. That does not mean brands should ignore viral trends. Quite the opposite. They should have systems in place to identify opportunities quickly, while being selective about which ones genuinely make sense.

The best social media marketing in Saudi Arabia combines cultural awareness with speed. If a trending sound can naturally bring a brand’s personality to life, use it. If a viral conversation provides a genuine opportunity to contribute something funny, useful, or insightful, join in. If it has absolutely nothing to do with the brand, there is no shame in letting it pass. A brand does not need to participate in every conversation to remain relevant.

Keep Up, But Know Where You Are Going

Saudi Arabia’s social media landscape is moving at an incredible pace, but the brands achieving lasting results are not necessarily those posting the most. They are the ones that understand their audience, know which platforms matter, create content that feels native to those platforms, and recognise when a cultural moment genuinely fits their brand.

For a social media agency in KSA, that is the real challenge. They now need to quickly spot what is viral, but also understand why it is viral and how a brand can participate without losing its identity. Trends will come and go, but relevance, authenticity, and a strong understanding of the audience will always have a place on the feed.
